在人们眼中，陈秋水是个不切实际的小镇青年。人们认定他的所有行为都是在博人眼球，是异想天开，甚至人们认为他就是个精神病。这天陈秋水因为偷渡被香港方面遣返回家。面对盘问，他坚称自己是被外星人带到香港的。旁人坚决不信，在众人嘲笑与谩骂中。外星人再一次出现，把他带到了千里之外的 甘肃。他在这里遇见了贫困潦倒的马村长等人。面对荒无人烟的戈壁滩，陈秋水产生了一个大胆的想法，提出合力抓“外星人。” 就这样，大家各怀心事，一拍即合，以陈秋水做饵，众人团结一致，开始为抓捕外星人而布下“天罗地网”，然而到了关键时刻，陈秋水却消失不见了…… 　　本片根据“黄延秋事件”改编，通过男主人公陈秋水三次被外星人挟持飞行的事件，挖掘人性的本质以及对美好生活的追求与向往。

讲述了热爱音乐的邱峰冲破重重阻力，克服种种困难，组建乐队追求自己的音乐梦想，并走出了困住他的亲情隔阂，和父亲和解，自我成长，最终收获梦想和爱情的故事。
