「一月の声に歓びを刻め」は、三島が47年間向き合い続ける“ある事件”をベースに、自主映画から製作をスタートしたオリジナル企画。北海道?洞爺湖の中島、東京?伊豆諸島の八丈島、大阪の堂島を舞台に、ストーリーの重要な存在として登場する“れいこ”をめぐる心の葛藤が描かれる。「船でゆく者」「船を待つ者」「船で来る者」と“方舟（はこぶね）”をテーマに、それぞれ心に傷を負う3人のもと、3つのストーリーが交錯。別々の“島”で進行するストーリーがある共通項で交わったとき、驚きの事実があらわになる。
